Waylon Jennings was quietly laid to rest on Friday,Feb. 15,2002 at a very private graveside service near his home in Arizona. Waylon was buried in the Mesa City Cemetery. Mesa Arizona. On Feb. 15, 2003 a black granite marker was placed on his grave.
The marker's right side reads, "A vagabond dreamer, a rhymer and a singer of songs, a revolutionary in country music, beloved by the world."
And on the left: "I am my beloved's. My beloved is mine. A loving son, husband, father and grandfather."
The marker also has his picture, and yesterday was surrounded by red carnations, an American flag and four bouquets of silk flowers. There also were several mementos, including a laminated photo of what appears to be a wall that has a cupid's heart with the word "Jessi" in it.
He is buried near his in-laws: the parents and brother of his widow, Jessi Colter.

![]() FOR WAYLON
The call came down from heaven
God needed a singer for his country band
And as he looked down here on Earth for one
He reached out to Waylon with his hand.
God said, Waylon,Ole Hoss, you're needed
Your work here on Earth is done
You've given so much to so many
Come with me, you're the one.
Waylon was given a guitar of pure gold
As he climbed the stairs to Heaven's door
And he could hear the other country stars singing
That had joined God's band before.
There was Patsy Cline,Elvis, so many waiting there
Waylon's old pal, Buddy,was smiling,singing "Peggy Sue"
Conway and Tammy were joined together in a song
Hank greeted Waylon,"Hoss, we've been waiting for you!"
And his voice joined the heavenly band
As his golden guitar played along
Ole Waylon plays in God's country band now
Filling heaven with his beautiful song.
